Towards the summer months, the leaves start to turn a golden-green color before eventually turning orange. Pale pink smoke-like plumes of flowers also reveal themselves in the summer.

Citronelle is a compact evergreen perennial that features yellow-green leaves and red petioles. This plant interestingly was only discovered in Hantay, France in 2002. They are a go-to choice when wanting to create a contrast with darker-leafed plants.

An added bonus is the charming white blooms that add a little more beauty to the plant. When planted in partial sunlight and watered regularly, Citronelle will grow to 10 inches tall and 14 inches wide.

In late spring the plants are loaded with clusters of pink or white flowers that also contain a red fruit that attracts birds. Don’t eat this fruit as it is poisonous to humans.

The intensity of the bright green leaves will change depending on the tree’s exposure to sunlight. Growing up to 50 feet high and equally wide this tree might not be the best option for your yard.

Referred to as the lime green succulent, the haworthia truncata is a beautiful stemless succulent that produces a fan-shaped set of clusters. The flattened lime green leaves on this plant are square to rectangular in shape.

The flower that blooms on the plant is a delightful cream color. It usually grows on the top of a 12-inch long stalk. You can easily grow this succulent on your windowsill at home.

Our favorite and final plant on our list is the dwarf Japanese cedar plant. The dwarf Japanese cedar is an evergreen dwarf conifer that forms a large dome of light green foliage. In the spring the leaves take on a more yellowy-green color, but in winter the plant takes on an attractive blue color.

Reaching just 3 feet in height, this plant doesn’t cope too well in winter so you may need to give it some more care and attention.
